Choose and Book is the national electronic referral service that lets you choose your hospital or clinic and book an appointment. It is currently being introduced across England, and we are rolling out the system to our services.
Benefits for patients
- You will have a choice of hospitals for your treatment.
- You can choose the date and time of your first appointment.
You will also be able to:
- plan and manage around your existing appointments, if you are currently undergoing treatment
- fit your treatment in with your other commitments, at home and at work
- choose appointments that fit with your carer's schedule
- check the status of your referral and cancel your appointments easily over the phone or on the internet
- reschedule your appointment if circumstances change.
Choose and Book should make the referral process shorter and more convenient for you.
How does Choose and Book work?
When you and your GP have decided that you need to see a specialist, Choose and Book shows your GP which hospitals or clinics are available for your treatment. You can book an appointment immediately, or at a later date if you want more time to consider your options.
Using Choose and Book at our hospitals
We are currently rolling out Choose and Book across our services. Your GP will be able to tell you whether you can book your appointment:
- at the surgery;
- online using the Choose and Book website
- by ringing the Choose and Book appointments line on 0345 60 88888 (7am to 10pm daily);
- by ringing Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust directly on 020 8296 2968 or visiting our online appointments centre.
