Appointment of Associate Non-Executive Director

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Kirke as an Associate Non-Executive Director.

Mr Kirke is an accomplished senior executive with 14 years’ experience of board level Human Resources (HR) and Change roles in large, complex organisations in both the private and public sector. He is currently the Group HR Director for the Post Office, and previous roles have included HR Delivery Director for Transport for London, during which he was the lead in the HR team for the successful delivery of the Olympic Games and legacy related HR activity.

Trust Chairman, Laurence Newman, said: "We are delighted to announce the appointment of Martin as Associate Non-Executive Director. He brings extensive skills and experience across a broad range of strategic disciplines and human resources, and as a local resident takes an active interest in our health service.”

Martin said: “I am really excited to be joining the Epsom and St Helier team. I hope to use my private and public sector HR and transformation skills and experience to help my community.”

Martin's term of office started on 1 February 2018 and will end on 31 January 2020. Consideration will be given to extending or a further re-appointment at the end of this term, depending on the needs of the Trust at the time. He does not have political or other interests which conflict with the role and responsibilities on the Trust Board and holds no ministerial appointments.

As an Associate Non-Executive Director of the Trust Martin will receive remuneration of £6,157 per annum.

The appointment was made by NHS Improvement as the organisation responsible for appointing all chairs and non-executives to NHS trusts throughout England.  All appointments are subject to the Code of Practice of the Commissioner for Public Appointments, and made following an open competition based on merit, in a way that is open, transparent and fair to all applicants.
