Celebrating over 17,000 years of service at our gesh 25 events
From St George’s to Epsom and St Helier, more than 600 long-serving colleagues have been celebrated over the past year at our gesh 25 events, to recognise an incredible 17,000+ years of NHS service between them.
It’s been a wonderful opportunity to celebrate staff who have been caring for patients and supporting our communities for more than 25 years. Treated with afternoon tea, cake and entertainment, it was a really heartful occasion to applaud staff and present them with their gesh 25 pin badge and certificate to mark their incredible milestone.
The seven events saw everyone from nurses, porters, midwives and radiographers to catering, reception and estates staff, all with a powerful story to tell.
Hosted by our executive team and attended by staff, alongside their family, friends and workmates, the events honoured staff who reached 25 years or more of continuous NHS service between April 2019 and June 2024 and had not received previous recognition. Attendees were personally thanked by members of the leadership team.
Some of our guests were celebrating 50 years of service, a momentous feat. We also celebrated dedicated volunteers from the St Helier League of Friends, who stepped down after decades of loyal service to patients and staff.
Colleagues who attended really enjoyed the events, saying they felt “a genuine feeling of being appreciated”, “a monumental treasure”, and “perfectly organised.”
One guest said; “It’s been a wonderful afternoon, with fantastic food and entertainment – thank you.” With another saying, “It was a lovely event, and everyone went out of their way to make me feel ‘special’ and appreciated. The whole experience was brilliant. The welcoming drinks and harpist were delightful.”
We’re really proud of all our staff who were recognised as part of gesh 25. To every single one of our gesh 25 colleagues – thank you.
