Clare Jelly is grateful to Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Charity for bringing some joy to a terrifying ordeal – and is urging people to donate to their Christmas Appeal so they can continue supporting patients at their lowest.

Matthew Shaw joins gesh from one of the world’s leading children’s hospitals, Great Ormond Street (GOSH), where he served as medical director, before his appointment as Chief Executive in March 2018.

Hundreds of medics from St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group could be among them, at a time when cases of winter illnesses like flu are starting to climb. 

During this period we will continue to provide the full range of emergency, intensive and maternity care in our hospitals on these days.

TV presenter Elle Osili-Wood has recorded a special message to NHS staff as the countdown gets under way to the second gesh CARE Awards.

Last winter, St George’s, Epsom and St Helier hospitals were hit by a flood of flu as well as RSV, Covid and norovirus – closing wards, adding to the strain on Emergency Departments (ED) and putting extra pressure on staff, as the virus gripped hospitals up and down the country.
