Children in Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children enjoyed a fun-packed morning of Elmer-themed activities in honour of Elmer Day, as part of the first annual event to celebrate the beloved patchwork elephant.

Epsom and St Helier hospitals recognised Dementia Awareness Week 2016 in style, putting on a range of special activities – including tea parties, dedicated information points and a concert – as part of a programme of events for patients, visitors and staff.

A ward manager at St Helier Hospital has become the latest winner of the Chief Executive’s Award of Excellence, having been recognised for her outstanding leadership and management of a busy surgical ward.

The Chief Inspector of Hospitals has awarded an Outstanding rating to the largest hip and knee replacement centre run by the National Health Service at Epsom Hospital.

A special award ceremony at Epsom and St Helier hospitals recently saw three members of exceptional staff pick up prestigious titles – as the hospitals named their nurse, midwife and qualified healthcare assistant of the year. 

Staff on a children’s ward at Epsom Hospital have been presented with the Chief Executive’s Award of Excellence in recognition of their commitment to putting the patient first, their exemplary professionalism and team spirit.

The Chief Nurse at Epsom and St Helier hospitals (who also happens to be a qualified midwife) went back to the floor last Sunday – as she joined the team in the Birth Centre for a full, eight hour shift.

Epsom and St Helier hospitals have pledged their support for John’s Campaign, which recognises the important role carers have in the lives of people living with dementia.
