Resident doctors strikes 14-19 November: Information for patients

As you may be aware, resident doctors in England will be taking industrial action from 7am on Friday 14 November to 7am on Wednesday 19 November 2025.

During this period we will continue to provide the full range of emergency, intensive and maternity care in our hospitals on these days. This care will be provided by our consultants from all our specialities, supported by a range of medical, nursing and allied health professionals.

However, we may need to reschedule some non-urgent operations and outpatient appointments. We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause.

If you have a scheduled appointment between these dates:

All patients affected by the cancellations will be contacted by the trust. If you aren’t contacted, your operation or appointment will go ahead as planned

If you are unsure or have any concerns, please phone the number on your hospital letter and the relevant department will be able to advise you.

Please use our services wisely

Patients in need of urgent and emergency care during the industrial action will continue to receive the treatment they need.

As always, please use emergency services wisely. Where appropriate, please consider alternatives to our emergency departments such as visiting a local GP or pharmacist.

When you have an urgent health need, please use NHS 111 online, as this can direct you to the best place for care.

We ask people to continue to come forward for care in an emergency, and to also keep any appointments they have, unless they hear otherwise.
