Chief Executive of Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, Daniel Elkeles, said: “As of 5pm Wednesday 8 April, sadly we can confirm that a further ten patients died whose results have now been confirmed as positive for COVID-19.
Partners across Surrey are working together to plan and manage our response to the growing coronavirus pandemic. Part of this response has been to develop plans for an additional community-style hospital to deal with increasing patient numbers as this situation develops.

We recently welcomed MP for Epsom and Ewell Chris Grayling to the Centre for Simulation and Human Factors at Epsom Hospital to officially unveil a family of brand new training manikins. The manikins include ‘mum’ Lucina, who can be used to accurately simulate the birthing process and two very realistic babies (one pre-term and one full-term). The manikins will be used to simulate a variety of clinical scenarios that allow staff to work together and to manage a number of complex patient scenarios that may be encountered in the workplace.
Some of the youngest and oldest patients cared for at Epsom Hospital are set to benefit from a generous donation of £5,000 from the Tattenham Community Association, following a cheque presentation from the Mayor of Reigate and Banstead on Saturday (15 February).
Patients, staff and local residents are invited to help Epsom and St Helier put their best foot forward this year, by joining a fundraising walk between the two hospitals on Sunday 29 March.
