Nurses caring for patients living with dementia at Epsom and St Helier hospitals have developed a series of initiatives to help connect with those patients, keep them comfortable and support their families.   

Thirty years to the day since they first started their training together, a group of nurses recently met up to visit the hospital where they trained and take a trip down memory lane – or Wrythe Lane at least.

Epsom Hospital will be hosting the pioneering Dementia Community Roadshow on 23 October 2015, as part of a national tour organised by the Alzheimer’s Society.

A brand new children’s audiology department is being created at St Helier Hospital, meaning that newborns who need their very first hearing check and children who require investigations and treatment will soon be seen in a fresh new environment, stocked full of state-of-the-art equipment. 

Elderly patients who are admitted to St Helier Hospital with a fractured hip are receiving some of the best care in the country, according to a new national report.

Epsom and St Helier hospitals are inviting patients and local residents to join their Annual Public Meeting, which will take place at Epsom Downs Racecourse on Wednesday 14 October. The day promises to be a bumper affair, with the APM and Staff Recognition Awards following on from the trust’s inaugural Patient First Conference, an event which will pull together people from across the organisation to highlight progress made as a result of the award-winning Patient First programme.

A medical photographer at Epsom and St Helier hospitals is raising money and awareness for refugees in Europe, by pledging to walk a staggering 4,350 kilometres (2,702 miles) – the distance between Damascus and London.
