Epsom Derby weekend - What to do if someone becomes unwell at horse-racing festival

One of the world’s biggest horse-racing festivals takes place this weekend which can increase demand on local NHS services in Epsom.

More than 100,000 racing fans are expected visit Epsom Downs Racecourse for the Oaks and the Derby this Friday and Saturday – so people are being urged to use the right NHS service if they need help.

If you have an urgent medical need – which is not an emergency – use NHS 111 online so you can be directed to the right place to get help: https://111.nhs.uk/

If you have a minor injury or illness, a local pharmacy can give advice, and some are able to offer prescription treatment for certain conditions without you needing to see a doctor first.

Please stay safe by staying hydrated and looking out for others.

If you or someone with you has a serious or life-threatening emergency, please visit an Emergency Department or call 999.
