Digital and Data Strategy 2026 to 2030

Building a more connected future for our patients, staff and communities

Read our strategy

We are committed to providing safe, high quality care that meets the needs of the communities we serve. Our Digital and Data Strategy 2026 to 2030 sets out how we will use technology and data to improve services, support our staff and make it easier for patients to access care.

The strategy provides a clear plan for how we will modernise our digital services over the next five years. It will help us create a more connected organisation where information can be shared safely, services work together more effectively and patients have a better experience.

Our vision

Our vision is to become a digitally connected, data-driven organisation with an accessible digital front door that makes care simpler for patients and supports staff to deliver the best possible care.

Technology is changing the way healthcare is delivered. We want to make sure our digital services are reliable, secure and easy to use, while always keeping patients at the centre of what we do.

What this means for patients

Our strategy is designed to improve the experience of accessing and receiving care.

Over the next five years we will:

  • make it easier for patients to access services through digital channels, including the NHS App
  • improve communication with patients by making information easier to access and share
  • bring together digital systems across our hospitals so information can be accessed more efficiently and securely
  • use data to improve services and support better clinical decision making
  • introduce new technologies, including artificial intelligence, where they can safely improve care and reduce administrative tasks
  • design digital services that are inclusive and accessible for everyone.

These improvements will help us provide safer, more joined up and more personalised care.

Our priorities

Our strategy focuses on six priorities that will guide our work between 2026 and 2030.

Protecting your information

Keeping patient information safe is one of our highest priorities.

As we introduce new technology, we will continue to meet NHS standards for information governance, cyber security and data protection. Your personal information will only be used appropriately, securely and in line with the law.

Working together

Delivering this strategy will take place over several years and will involve collaboration with patients, carers, staff and partner organisations.

We will continue to listen to feedback and use it to improve our digital services, ensuring they meet the needs of the people and communities we serve.
