GPVTS programme

To become an independent general practitioner, doctors must undertake at least three years training on a GP vocational training scheme (GPVTS). This three year training cycle includes 24 months in a GP practice with the remainder of the three years in approved hospital posts, as well as ITP posts.

We run two separate GPVTS schemes. One is based at Epsom Hospital and the other at St Helier Hospital.

Further information on both training schemes can be found on their respective websites:

Teaching programmes

Both the St Helier GPVTS teaching and the Epsom GP teaching programme are taking place virtually via Zoom. For more details on each teaching programme please visit the Scheme website.
